The Wonaco Casino app is a progressive web app: you install it from your browser in under a minute, it takes up less than 5 MB, and it does everything the desktop site does. I used it for two weeks, here's the setup and the numbers.
Why isn't Wonaco in the App Store?
Apple and Google only allow real-money casino apps from operators licensed where the app is offered. Wonaco isn't provincially licensed, so it goes the PWA route: add the site to your home screen and it opens full screen with its own icon. Upside: there's no file to trust, the code always comes straight from Wonaco's server.

How fast is the Wonaco app?
Average of 10 launches on Rogers LTE at 60 Mbps in Vancouver:
| Test | Pixel 9 (Android 15) | iPhone 15 (iOS 18) |
|---|---|---|
| Lobby ready | 2.1 s | 2.0 s |
| Launch Big Bass Splash | 2.7 s | 2.5 s |
| Launch Sugar Rush 1000 | 2.9 s | 2.7 s |
| Join Mega Roulette | 3.7 s | 3.4 s |
| Battery after 1 h of live | 12% | 11% |
| Data after 1 h of live | 420 MB | 400 MB |
On the SeaBus and up the Sea-to-Sky with patchy coverage, the live stream dropped to low quality twice but never cut out. With Low Power Mode on, the iPhone killed the background session after about 3 minutes.
What can you do in the app?
Everything: sign up, deposit, claim bonuses, 11,800 games, sports betting and withdrawals. The 250% package up to C$3,750 works on mobile too, see Wonaco Casino bonus. I tested mobile betting on the Wonaco sports betting page.
Common problems and fixes
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Icon doesn't appear | Chrome on Android, Safari on iPhone |
| Live stream stutters | Turn off battery saver |
| Asked to log in every time | Allow cookies for the site |
| Blank page | Clear the browser cache |
On an older Galaxy A12 with 3 GB of RAM, the lobby took 4.6 seconds: slow but stable. On a budget phone, close other apps before going live.
Is the web app safe?
Safer than any APK, because it asks for no system permissions: no access to contacts, photos or texts. The only optional permission is notifications. To remove it, long-press the icon, nothing left behind. Closed, it sends no data in the background.
My monthly usage at about an hour of slots and betting a day, no live: 2.0 GB. For live dealer, stick to Wi-Fi if you're on a capped Canadian plan. First login from the app: see Wonaco Casino login.
Notifications and handy settings
On first launch, the web app asks for permission to send notifications. I kept only promos and bet results, two or three a day. After your second login, the browser offers fingerprint sign-in, which gets you in under 10 seconds. For live blackjack I still prefer the laptop, the stats are easier to read on a big screen.
Added Wonaco to my iPhone home screen, feels like a proper app. Live tables hold up fine on LTE.
